I just flew in from the Windy City, well actually we just drove back from Chicago. We spent a few hours there today and omg, I can see why Chicagans drink so much beer, the traffic is horrendous, even on a Sunday. The city is nice, really easy to walk around, not so easy to drive around and park. We didn’t really have enough time to do much of anything there other than walk around for a while with the trains rattling overhead, and eat pizza. We parked in a two-hour spot ($8.50) and walked along the Magnificent Mile for a ways. Some of the streets were closed off as Transformers 3 was being filmed starring Shia LaBeauf; there were lots of people taking pictures and lots of security moving people along the sidewalks. We looked all over for pizza, I didn’t think it would be difficult to find pizza here, but even a Chicagan we asked couldn’t direct us to anywhere. We did eventually find a place, with Nells help, and had a veggie deep dish. The pizza was pretty good, although not anything super special. The crust, which is usually my favourite part, was more like pastry than pizza crust and they made it upside down with the cheese under the sauce. It was a little watery too since it had so much stuff on top. Glad we tried it but probably won’t be craving it anytime soon. We almost visited Navy Pier but couldn’t quite manage to pay the $24.00 parking fee just so we could stay for an hour.
We had planned on heading back into the city on another day this week since I had wanted to go up the Willis Tower, but after the hassle getting out this afternoon I doubt I’ll ever get Mike to drive in again. The traffic was terrible, I can’t imagine what it’s like at rush hour on a weekday, and to top it all off there was a horrible accident on the freeway as we were heading home. I think maybe we should stay away from the big cities and spend more time in the little towns.

Mike: If I wanted traffic I would go back to Southern California. You can keep Chicago! And their Pizza!
