Off again today, and we got an earlyish start as we had quite a drive. Mike did take longer than usual to get sorted as he was chatting to the guy next door about his truck and fifth wheel – what is it about men and their vehicles?
Much like yesterday, the drive today from Big Spring to Carlsbad is across very much the same terrain. There’s nothing to see for miles around just more deserty landscape with scrubby bushes, and lots of oil wells everywhere.
We got to the campsite early this afternoon and got checked in, then we paid a visit to the RV center that is right next door. Since we got back from our extended vacation the forced air in the trailer hasn’t worked, and then last week the water heater started playing up. So Mike took this opportunity to have a guy look at both and thankfully he fixed both of the problems in less than half an hour and for less than a hundred bucks. Now bring on the cold weather cos we are all set.
We got to our space and got set up. I think I’m going to be cleaning dust and sand out of the trailer for the next month or so after we leave this place as it is so dry and dusty here and super windy.

Mike: I'd pay money to see that!!

We took a drive into Carlsbad this afternoon and got lunch. There’s lots of shopping here but not much else, and it doesn’t look much like a tourist town as I expected it to. Really, besides the caverns there really isn’t any reason to come here; I hope the caverns are worth the detour.
