We finally made it to Florida today, yeah warm weather at last, well warmer anyway. It was quite cold when we got up this morning, the sewer pipe thing was frozen when Mike went to disconnect it from the whole in the ground. Apart from the chilly weather we didn’t have too much trouble hooking up this morning; maybe cos Mike did it by himself. Ever since we were in Yemassee and the guy next to us hooked up without his wife’s help Mike has been doing our hitching up by himself – I guess it does pay to bitch once in a while!
Thankfully the wind had dropped of by late yesterday afternoon so we had a fairly good run down into Florida today, and the drive was only about 2 ½ hours. The campground we are staying at here in Live Oak for the next few days is right on the Suwanee River. It’s not a bad campground and even though this is the start of the peak season here in Florida it’s not too busy. It’s one of the bigger places we’ve stayed at with around 400 sites but we have plenty of room and even though there are a few other people around us it’s really quiet. We got set up by early afternoon and then went to get lunch; we’ve discovered Hungry Howie’s pizza, which is a good thing and not such a good thing.

Mike: Can you hear me singing?

Way down upon the Suwannee River,
Far, far away,
There’s where my heart is turning ever,
There’s where the old folks stay.
All up and down the whole creation,
Sadly I roam,
Still longing for my childhood station,
And for the old folks at home.
