Got up early this morning as we had three states to visit today. I discovered yesterday that the Louisiana State Fair is still running in Shreveport so we decided to take a run there this morning. It was about a 2 hour drive so we got on the road early and stopped at Waffle House for breakfast. We got to Shreveport just after the fair opened and thankfully as we got there early we didn’t have to pay for parking or entrance which I was really glad about after seeing what the fair had to offer. It was really lame, there was a few vendors, lots of food (meaty food), and rides. We wandered around for about a half hour but there was nothing to keep us there any longer; I think after visiting the Del Mar fair nothing else really compares. We did check out some prefab model homes that were on display and I learned that I don’t want to live in one of them. They are nicely laid out and quite spacious but they are just like giant trailers – not something I want for a permanent home, but since we haven’t found any place we like enough to live in yet I guess I don’t have to worry about it.

After leaving Shreveport we headed back north and stopped in Texarkana. This is a big city, just like any other with lots of shopping, but it does have one really cool building. The Post Office and Court House in Texarkana is half in Arkansas and half in Texas. The state line runs right through the middle, it’s the only federal building in the US that is in two states, and the only Post Office that has two separate zip codes.

After having lunch we did a bit of shopping and I finally bought a new pair of trainers – for all the exercising I do! Then we visited an RV dealer to look at fifth wheels. It’s a good possibility that after visiting San Diego we are going to stay on the road for a while and if we do then we are going to upgrade from the trailer to a fifth wheel. We looked at some nice ones today but there are so many different models and floor plans that we are going to have to do a whole lot more looking and investigating before we decide on which one we should get.

Mike: There's no fair like the SD County Fair @ Del Mar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
