The drive was about and hour and a half, mostly along the I5 and hwy 50. The last 15 or so miles were through some twisty lanes but it wasn't a bad drive. We got to the park late morning and got checked in just as the first drops of rain started to fall. The campground is right on the American river, and some class II rapids, and we drove around it looking for a good spot. All the spots along the river bank we taken, but I don't think we'd have taken one anyway since they are really close together and are just gravel covered spaces. We found a good spot in amongst the trees with very few neighbours, and it's still only about 6 steps away from the river.
We managed to get mostly straight before the rain really started to come down, and once it did I came inside and left Mike to it. He didn't mind as the rain cooled him down, it was most refreshing.
We drove across the street for lunch, it's so close we could have walked, and ate ok Mexican food. We did discover while we were out that the Post Office is right across the street too, which will be perfect for getting our mail.
Mike: My kind of place! Nobody in sight!
