We took a walk around the park earlyish this morning and checked out the American river without the rain; it’s very beautiful. We also confirmed that we picked a good space yesterday as the ones on the river are just too tightly packed; the big motorhomes look like sardines all lined up there.  The only problem with our space is that in this section there is a big group coming in the day before we were due to leave and the park manager stopped by today and told us we'd have to move from the space before they arrived. It’s a little inconvenient but rather than packing up and moving now, or just for the last night, we are heading out of here a day early to go to Winters.

Off to Placerville this morning with the sole intention of getting our laundry done. This park does not have it’s own laundry so Placerville is the closest and is about 20 or so miles away. Actually it might not be that far but it took a while to get there as it was all along twisty turny up and down roads. It was a pretty drive, but not great if you are in a hurry – fortunately we rarely are and today was no exception.
The washing took us just over an hour to do, and once it was finished we headed off to have Chinese food; really good Chinese food, but oh so much of it.  We drove around Placerville a little bit afterwards, the old part of town, and then the newer shopping area, but didn’t stop; we’ll probably be back sometime during our two week stay at Lotus.  That’s if Mike can drag himself away from his battle with the silly gopher that wants to tunnel under our space. Mike is on the look out for a slingshot but in the mean time has to make do with stamping on his tunnels. If the gopher has the tenacity of the squirrel who lives in the tree above us, Mike is in for a long struggle!

Mike: You little varmint, I will get you!
