We finally made it down to the river this morning. We've been here 4 days and we've seen the river from above when we are driving into the park but this morning we walked down to the banks of the Russian River. Over the weekend there were lots of people camping on the river banks but today there's no one left, just us and a couple of people fishing.
The river flows for about 110 miles, beginning in Mendocino county and meeting the ocean directly west of Santa Rosa. It is apparently quite dangerous during the winter months but right now it has a gentle current that lots of people take advantage of to boat and swim.

Mike: I like it when its quiet!

We didn't go anywhere else today, but we did have lots of visitors who are eating us out of house and home!
