Today we drove to Portland – stupid, stupid, stupid. As we were driving east everyone from the Portland area was driving west towards the beach as today was the hottest ever August 4 in Portland, and the hottest day for the past three years – it got up to 103 degrees. We weren’t stupid because we left the cooler coast to go inland, we were stupid because when we headed back to Seaside we got to sit in stupid traffic for ages. And, we didn’t even get to Portland, we just visited Beaverton and Hillsboro and then headed home. What a waste of a day – I’m still a little frustrated by our stupidity but at least the traffic only added about 45 minutes to our trip home.

Mike: I could have been a lot worse, by the time we returned to the coast the traffic had thinned out!
