We left Belvidere today and drove about a three-hour drive to Buchanan in Michigan, thankful to leave the mosquitoes behind as they have been pretty relentless these past few days. The drive was pretty uneventful really but to get to Buchanan we did have to take the I-90 through Chicago. It cost us almost $20.00 since the I-90 for the most part is a toll road. Now I don’t mind paying to use the toll roads when I get to avoid traffic, but since this is the only major road on our route we still got to sit in traffic through the Chicago area; I don’t know how people do it everyday. We had to drive into Indiana for a little bit and got to drive right through the middle of Gary, which is not the nicest place in the world; I think it has one of the highest crime rates in the country. We got through there pretty damn sharpish in spite of the massive rainstorm that hit us right as we crossed into Indiana.
We are staying at a campsite called Bear Cave, which has the only natural cavern in the state of Michigan; we are going to take a visit one of the days that we are here. The site is nice, very quiet in amongst the trees, and right on the St. Joseph River. There are no bugs here either which is super fantastic, now mike and Tal-y will actually be able to leave the trailer.

Mike: I won’t be visiting Chi town again any time soon. Yeah-no bugs!
